The current home is in Shikadabu, Likoni on the South Coast, a short drive and a ferry ride from central Mombasa. The Kenyan Trustees have made a lot of improvements to the home over the years but conditions remain very basic and overcrowded with very little outdoor space. The house is built in the Swahili House style. It has 6 bedrooms, a dining room, study/TV room, office, food store and kitchen. The most recent addition is the water system, running water to showers and sinks from a water tanks. It is on a very busy main road and as there are no glass windows, the road makes the house extremely dusty. It only has a small courtyard for outside space, no room to run off excess energy. |
